Twenty-six years ago, the streets of Wadebridge were buzzing as stars and locals alike gathered at The Regal Wadebridge for the British Premiere of a homegrown masterpiece. This March 2026, we are bringing it home.
As the headline event of the very first Polzeath Community Film Festival, we are proud to present a special screening of the 2000 cult classic Saving Grace—now looking better than ever in a stunning new digital remaster.
Why this is a night not to be missed:
The Creator Returns: We are delighted to welcome producer and co-writer Mark Crowdy for a live post-screening Q&A. Mark will be sharing stories from the set and more.
A Piece of Cinema History: This isn't just any old British comedy; it’s the origin story of a global phenomenon. Watch Martin Clunes as the "GP from hell," Dr. Martin Bamford—the character that directly inspired the hit series Doc Martin and now, in the USA, Best Medicine.
Spot the Locals: Filmed at St Endellion, Port Isaac, Boscastle, and Trebarwith Strand, the film is a love letter to the North Cornwall coastline. From Wetherham Manor to the familiar faces in the village scenes, see how many local "extras" and landmarks you can recognise!
Community Spirit: Sponsored by Polzeath Walks and Billy’s Beach Art, this final festival screening aims to bring the community together for a night of laughter and nostalgia. While the event celebrates our local history, it also looks to our future—all charitable collections on the night will benefit Young & Talented Cornwall (The Lord Lieutenant’s Fund), helping the next generation of Cornish creatives achieve their dreams.
Come and celebrate the film that really put North Cornwall on the map on Sat 14th March or 15th!
The screenings begin with the award-winning 12-minute documentary short, "We Are All Artists", a celebration of beach art and the spirit of Polzeath.
Welcome to a cinematic experience in the heart of Polzeath featuring a hand-picked selection from the London Mountain Film Festival, carefully curated by a local team of film lovers to bring the spirit of adventure and artistry to our special part of North Cornwall.
Location: All screenings are held at The Tubestation, with the exception of Saving Grace.
This festival is a community-led gift, made possible by the incredible generosity of our partners:
Mark Crowdy: Sincere thanks to Mark for the generous gift of his Cornish cult classic, Saving Grace. To celebrate its 26th anniversary, Mark has provided the digitally remastered film for this screening at no cost.
The Tubestation: For providing their facilities. This festival is proud to be crowdfunding for a new cinema screen for the Tubestation, ensuring we can enjoy high-quality community screenings like this for years to come.
Simon Ratigan: We are hoping to welcome back the acclaimed director to Polzeath and the Regal to discuss his career and his experience filming the "Zen" masterpiece We Are All Artists on our local beach
Robert at Wadebridge Cinema: A huge thank you for hosting our finale and generously donating 50% of the ticket proceeds to support and fund creative Young and Talented Cornwall.
Our Guest Experts: To Chris Weight for sharing his world-class mineralogy expertise, and to the members of the Lost Boys crew for joining us to provide a unique behind-the-scenes Q&A.
