Shooting a Cornish Sunset or Sunrise

What you'll do

This private walk will involve creative photography set along one of Cornwall's most beautiful paths. The clean air and reflected light works a magic on what you see and then you'll understand why Cornwall attracts so many artists!

We'll discuss our walk and what you're likely to see before heading off in the late afternoon or early morning to explore panoramic Pentire and the ancient cliff castle at The Rumps with its views across Port Isaac Bay to Tintagel.

It's a particularly photogenic and interesting bit of coast and I'll show you the best places to take your photographs. You'll see this part of the coast from a local's perspective with the sun low in the "golden hours" and you'll be able to shoot in clean light!

I'll give you the lowdown on films currently scheduled and filming, including news on the writing of the final Doc Martin series, and also insights and the film locations for Fisherman's Friends, Swept from the Sea, The Three Musketeers and Poldark.

There are many literary connections that I can tell you about; from Charles Dickens to Thomas Hardy to Rosamunde Pilcher to even Enid Blyton.

I'll show you where there was a silver mine, a forced landing by a Flying Fortress, a newly discovered Cold War bunker, a spy landing site, submarine graveyards and where the pirate Cruel Coppinger hid his treasure.

We can stop whenever and wherever you want as this will be your tour.

I will point out places you may like to visit on your own later and help you make the very most of your visit to this amazing piece of coast!

We had a great experience with Bill - it was like going for a walk with an old friend! He has fantastic local knowledge and we enjoyed his stories and tales from his life and adventures. Having the opportunity to explore the area with Bill gave us insight into the history of the area and although the weather conspired against us from a photography perspective but it didn't take away from our enjoyment of the walk. We would thoroughly recommend anyone to walk with Bill, whether or not you have an interest in photography!

I had a lovely walk with Bill. I appreciated the opportunity to see this part of Cornwall with someone like Bill who is knowledgeable about the local history as well as the fauna (and a lot of the flora!). I saw some spectacular vistas and even though I’m an amateur photographer got some great shots of the coastline. Walking and chatting with Bill was fun – we ended up at the Bee Center for coffee and cake, and it was like old home week being with Bill. Everyone knew him! Sign up for this experience – you will enjoy it!

The walk is based around Polzeath and will tap into your creative spirit while observing the often unseen parts of this popular part of North Cornwall towards sunset. This walk is particularly suited to those new to North Cornwall and those interested in the history and geology of the area. I'll point out places you might like to go later to make the most of your holiday in this inspirational part of North Cornwall.
