Experienced Teacher: Maybe? I've over 40 years of teaching in various subjects, including ICT, English, outdoor education and now 7 years of teaching Sacred Geometry on the beach. Somehow, and don't ask me how, I became a Headmaster of Mombasa International school and then a Housemaster at Giggleswick School.
Global Wanderer: All who wander may actually be lost, but my teaching career has somehow taken me all over the UK and to Australia, USA, Morocco, Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya, and Bangladesh. Make of that what you will.
Lifelong Learner: Yes, I've taught in the IB system and they like that idea and so do I. I did Psychology at Durham and a PGCE in English and Outdoor Ed in Exeter. I'm totally open to new ideas and learning from others. Hopefully just like you if you are reading this!
Exploring with Bill:
Photography and Film Enthusiast: As an original Geograph photographer, my photos around the UK are now preserved in the British Library. I have recently been featured in a couple of short films about Beach Art; one by German TV's ZDF and the other by Simon Ratigan called We are all Artists.
Tech Upgrade: While I used to carry a Nikon and a Kelly Kettle on walks, now it's likely to be a thermos, iPhone, and drone.
Organise: Over the years, I've organised walking challenges like the Three Peaks walking Challenge in the Yorkshire Dales and now the Polzeath Beach Art festival.

my daughters Coco and Charlie, despite my faults, support their old father in most of what he does.
My wonderful wife, Sam, was born in Australia and now shares our small home here in New Polzeath. Sam has a background in mental health, with extensive experience in teaching and nursing, both here in the UK and in places like Bangladesh and Kenya. Her passion lies in supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of others, and her warm, empathetic nature makes particularly good at that!
My son Samuel, and his wife to be, Asia, shown here as my first beach art assistants. Now with two sons who have tried beach art with me. Thanks Adam and Mustafa!
Yes we worked with a dustbin lid and my now long loved and trusted wood curtainrail.
A Beach Art session. This one with clients who turned out to be better beach artists than me!

Jan 2025 How lucky was I that this lovely couple knew that I was famous! Otherwise I would have been none the wiser. I must remember Shelley's 'Ozymandias' poem and the warning about getting big headed. Cause in the end:
'Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.'
Happy to be the Echium rep in our area
